Parental Capacity Evaluation

Parental Capacity Evaluation

A parental capacity evaluation consists of evidence-based personality and parent-specific testing, structured clinical and parent-specific interviews and questionnaires, collateral interviews with providers or individuals with familiarity of the client’s parenting and mental well-being, and review of medical and/or mental health records as available. Depending on the age and status of the children, they may or may not be involved in the evaluation. The evaluation helps to objectively clarify the presence of any maladaptive mental health symptoms or personality traits and whether or how these may impact parenting. It also helps direct appropriate and specific recommendations for improved parenting if indicated.
